Marvel’s most eccentric superhero has a message for down under even if he can’t forgive Australia for giving the world Wolverine – nothing against Hugh Jackman. “He’s a delightful guy, he really is” Deadpool claims, but it seems the film X MEN ORIGINS was a real career low.
Armed with a bad Australian accent and cork slouch hat, The Merc with a Mouth wishes us a Happy Australia Day. Deadpool really relates to the land of the green and gold, with a shared shady criminal past, love of drinking and unrelenting condescension towards the Kiwis. What a lovely surprise.
Slated for national release Thursday February 11, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of Wade Wilson, former Special Forces operative turned mercenary. Following a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, he adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, we follow Deadpool as he hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Ryan Reynolds stars alongside TJ Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Morena Baccarin and Ed Skrein, directed by Tim Miller with a script by ZOMBIELAND writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. This surely means put downs and clever insults galore. Infamous for breaking the fourth wall with droll humour, all eyes are on the red suit waiting to hit the cinemas. In the meantime, we’ll just throw another shrimp on the barbie.
