For another year, the Fish Lane Festival invites you to drink, dance and dine the day away to celebrate South Brisbane’s most iconic laneway. If you went along last year, you know what to expect. For those of you that haven’t, boy you are in for a treat!
From midday onwards, let your inner foodie out and stroll through the precinct feasting on signature dishes and gourmet eats from local venues. Extending from South Brisbane to West End, choose between carefully curated food selections and premium pop-up bars serving up range of craft cocktail, beer, wine and spirits. There will also be a hand-picked program of music and entertainment.
If you’re looking for some classic eats The Fox Hotel Pizza Bar will be dishing up their saucy signature toppings on $12 pizza all day and night while Ol’ School is serving up a touch of nostalgia with their fish and chips duo (with a twist). For your all favourite American diner eats, head over to Roddy's Rippin' Rib Shack and enjoy some Chilli fires, buffalo wings, Jala-macca-peno poppers (yes, thats japaeno poppers stuffed with mac and cheese) and poutine of course!
You’ll be able to get your burger fix at Billykart with their famous Cheeseburger. Think a dry-aged beef patty, cheese, pickles, onion, ketchup and mustard mayo sandwiched between a milk bun. The team at Saccharomyces Beer Café will be serving up both sweet and savoury burgers this year including a Pulled Pork Burger and Strawberry Doughnut Dessert Burger.
Italian favourite Julius Pizzeria will have your Italian fix sorted with pasta and arancini balls high on the menu. We recommend popping over to Five Sisters next and get amongst their traditional Greek gyros or Meze platter topped with halloumi. We hear they’re also be serving up a whole lot of sweet goodness with their Honey Puffs.
Combining the flavours of Asia, Chu the Phat are plating up their signature steamed duck buns alongside their new menu addition….squid schnitzel sandwich! Feast on spicy pirikari fries and limited edition karaage hot dogs with cabbage, avocado and yuzu mayo from Birds Nest.
The newest edition Grass Fed is the new du jour bringing a new breed of vegan burger including a vegan cheesy to rival its’ meaty competition while The Fox Hotel Nugget Bar is back dishing out their VEGAN nuggets: tofu nuggets coated in seasoning and served with a vegan dipping sauce.
Satisfy your sweet tooth at Gelato Messina with a one-of-a-kind creation just for Fish Lane Festival! This year… TWO drool-worth Gelato S’Mores which we delved into great detail here. Alternatively, stop into 31 Degrees for their delicious France-sourced chocolatey creations like their salted caramel brownie cookie and luxe hazelnut brownie.
With all the walking and eating, you’ll be wanting to keep your energy levels high with a bottled ice coffee made on 5 Senses Coffee from Only Specialty Coffee.
This is a fully-license 18+ event, but if you’re a minor – don’t stress. Just come along with a parent or guardian and you’ll be a-okay! And the best bit? Entry is free for all.

About the author
Harbouring an unhealthy addiction of stopping strangers on the street to pet their doggos, Danica is a lover of the great outdoors. While her greatest skill may be the ability to rap ‘Fergalicious’ perfectly, her inability to remember her left and rights has proven to be her greatest downfall in life. When she’s not on the beach or hiking up another mountain, you can expect to find her watching Unlikely Animal Friends for the 100th time while trying to satisfy her Tim-Tam addiction with surprise, suprise… another packet of Tim-Tams. It seems like no-one told her they aren’t a suitable daily breakfast.
