The bayside suburb of Cleveland will be smokin’ this June to celebrate meat and fire and quality craft beer at the Bayside BBQ & Beer Road Show. The exciting travelling roadshow for BBQ food lovers and craft beer enthusiasts is back after attracting thousands of people to Redland Showgrounds last year when the first installment of the BBQ & Beer Roadshow landed in town.
After the first successful event last year, the Roadshow is firing up the smokers on Saturday June 29 & Sunday June 30 making for the perfect long weekend to visit and explore the Redlands.
The day and night event offers a mouth-watering selection of barbecued meats from around 15 different BBQ food vendors as well as more than 100 different beers from both Australian and international breweries.
An awesome line-up of Queensland’s best Rockabilly bands will be performing live to round off the event which promises to be a great way to spend a lazy autumn Saturday.
The fun zone will have plenty of activities for kids of all ages including a mechanical bull, an animal farm, human foosball, 2 jumping castles and various giant games. There will be a face painter and balloon artist to keep the little ones entertained.
A $15,000 competition prize pool will also be up for grabs as up to 50 of Australia’s best BBQ crews fire up the festival showcasing their talents across 6 categories in the BBQ Arena competing for the crown of Queensland BBQ Championships.
There will also be a Kids Q–Burger cook-off for those budding cooks. Aficionados and first-timers alike can also learn the tricks of the barbecuing and brewing trade from the best in the business at one of the masterclasses throughout the day.
For those looking to make it the ultimate day out, a VIP tabled area also offers a package including a ‘carnivores feasting platter’, beverages, full table service and a goodie bag.
Event director Julian D’Souzais really excited to bring the BBQ & Beer Roadshow back to Cleveland.
“This event is a celebration of the wonderful outdoor life we enjoy in Queensland. We are introducing an exciting roving event that brings to life Australia’s love for food markets, BBQ and craft beers with education, competitions and unique experiences in a festival environment,” Mr D’Souza says.
“With a focus on BBQ, visitors can see the latest low and slow cooking techniques utilised by the best crews in Australia, and they can enjoy a broad selection of delicious meats and other foods from our vendors.
“Complementing the food choices will be around 20 different bars with a raft of boutique beers from popular as well as smaller breweries ensuring people will discover beers they’ve never heard of or tasted before.”
Mr D’Souza, who is behind popular Brisbane events including Stones Corner Festival and the World Food Markets, said Cleveland is the perfect destination for the roadshow event.
“Our glorious Queensland autumn weather will provide the perfect backdrop for the travelling event and we’re excited with the fantastic support from the local community.”
Barbecue vendors will be serving up a carnivore’s fantasy smorgasbord of everything smoky and sticky; from slow-cooked brisket to finger-lickin’ ribs, pulled pork to gourmet smoked sausages. There are barbecue and beer matching masterclasses and live music as well as the opportunity to taste a range of local and national beers from one of the twenty craft brewers on site.
It’s not all fun and games though, with barbecue teams competing for the coveted title of Queensland’s best.
“This event is a celebration of all things Queensland and will be hosting the second Queensland BBQ Championships, with teams travelling from all parts of Australia to compete. Teams are travelling from as far as WA and Victoria for this competition,” As well as the professionally judged competition, there will be various food eating contests such as hot wing eating and ice-cream eating.
The event will be held at Redland Showgrounds on Saturday, 29th & Sunday 30th June from 10am to 5pm. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $10, with kids under 18 free. For VIP tables and further information visit the website www.bbqbeerroadshow.com.au
