Weekend plans got cancelled? Never had any? Perfect.

Here, five fun things to do in Brisbane this weekend.

1. The Guilty Feminist Podcast

Join Deborah Frances-White, comedian and host of hit podcast The Guilty Feminist, for a live podcast recording at the Brisbane Powerhouse this Saturday. Laugh along as Frances-White and her special guests discuss their noble goals as 21st century feminists and the paradoxes and insecurities which undermine them.

Tickets $35-$45, available here.

2. The Neighbourhood

A companion piece to 2017's production The VillageThe Neighbourhood is a raw and relevant work that explores migrant and refugee experiences across generations. Told by seven local story-tellers (continuing the ongoing partnership between La Boite and Multicultural Australia), the play investigates the notion of community and process of creating a home. Honest, moving and conversation-sparking. This unmissable piece of theatre premieres Saturday at La Boite and is on until February 29.

Tickets from $35, available here.

3. Helping Heroes On The Lawn

Head down to the Howard Smith Wharves this Saturday from 12pm to show your support for local service heroes battling Australia's devastating bushfires. There'll be live entertainment from Samantha Jade, Alfie Arcuri and Lai Utovou, as well as photo booths and face painting for the little ones. For the adults, there will be plenty to eat and drink (read: Pimm's and Moët pop-ups, How We Rolls Food Trucks; and Barcelona Churros) with festivities kicking on well into the night. The best bit: 100 per cent of profits will be donated to the Australian bushfire relief.

4. The Jungle Collective Indoor Plant Warehouse Sale – Summertime Madness

Whether you're a crazy plant lady or plant serial killer, the Jungle Collective's Summertime Madness sale promises to have something for you (and at a fraction of the price you'd find it elsewhere). A word of caution: arrive early to miss disappointment. This weekend-long, serious-style plant sale comes with time slots (see here) and a dress-up discount option: if you arrive in beach attire, you'll qualify for $5 off your purchases.

For more info, see the event listing here.

5. Jack Whitehall Stood Up Australian Tour 2020

You'll know him as the charismatic and quick-witted son on the Netflix hit Travels With My Father, and this Saturday you can catch him live at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. Fresh off his third sellout arena tour of the UK, Whitehall's comedy (whip-smart and unexpected) makes for a delightfully funny night.

Tickets from $89, available here.
